Girl RELAX, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing the mental health and well-being of the Black community through child advocacy and stigma reduction. Our mission is to empower parents, caregivers, and families to prioritize their mental health by promoting self-examination, providing culturally relevant support, and connecting individuals to professional mental health resources.
Girl RELAX, Inc. was founded in February 2020 by Angela McKinney, a dedicated wife, mother, and Dallas native with over a decade of experience in child welfare. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix, Angela advanced through multiple roles at the Department of Family and Protective Services.
Recognizing the gap in accessible mental health resources for Black communities, Angela founded our organization to be an online hub connecting users to Black wellness professionals, offering services that support mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. The organization’s mission is to improve the quality of life within the Black community by providing a convenient, comprehensive resource for wellness support.
